For years I worked in the casino business, hearing people complain about their bad luck, and how awful their day was. "This casino is the worst!" they'd tell me, "I've never had a good time here, I never make any money," and so on. I wondered if this is how they act when they go to other businesses.
So I wrote a story about some men hanging out at a restaurant, thinking and behaving like gamblers. They complain about the food, but order more. They complain about how awful the diner is, but they keep coming back day after day.
This is a short work of fiction built around the idea of negative attitude. There are lots of small inside jokes that will be especially funny to anyone who is familiar with gambling culture, but it will also be fun and funny to others.
